GOLDENBERG’S EXCLUSIVE FLAT ROOF INSTALLATION PROCESS: Our exclusive Flat Roofing System is great for any residential home. There are colors available based on the type of granules you chose. In some cases we can turn around a roofing project with in 24-48 hours (If weather permits). See our steps below on how we strive to achieve this: The process begins with us protecting your home with tarps and sheets of plywood to prevent debris from hitting your home. In some cases we set up a scaffold (only if necessary) Then we begin removing all existing roofing down to the bare wood. Now we start to install 1/2″ insulation board followed by installing fiberglass base sheet (Both are secured with cap nails or screws and plates). After the fiberglass base sheet is installed we then begin to install SBS cold apply rubber roofing (Material installed with Trawl Grade adhesive). Flashing of the Parapet Walls: The roofing is secured to the wall with an aluminum termination bar, flashing cement and roof membrane: it is then covered with ceramic granules to protect the flashing cement from the sun. We then build new hatch covers and cover the covers with a galvanized metal skin (By Law all flat roofs need to have a working hatch). We install or replace any skylights that are needed. Then we install a flange gutter which is specifically designed for a flat roof application. We then install and/or change the wall scuppers to copper or aluminum. Finally we remove all of the debris from the jobsite and hall it all away in our Goldenberg trucks. Frequently Asked Questions About Roofing Companies

Find answers to common questions about roofing companies and hiring roofing contractors in the USA.

What questions should I ask a roofing contractor?

Before hiring a roofing contractor, ask:
  • Experience: 'How long have you been in business, and what experience do you have with similar projects?'
  • Licensing and insurance: 'Are you licensed and insured, and can I see proof of coverage?'
  • Warranties: 'What warranties do you offer on your work and the materials used?'
  • References: 'Can you provide references from past clients?'
  • Project Timeline: 'What is the estimated timeline for completing the project?'
  • Payment Terms: 'What are your payment terms, and do you require a deposit?'
  • Communication: 'How will you keep me updated on the project's progress?'
  • Cleanup: 'What steps will you take to protect my property during the project and ensure proper cleanup afterward?'
Asking these questions helps you assess the contractor's professionalism and suitability for your project.

What is a soffit, and why is it important for my roof?

The soffit is the underside of the roof overhang that connects the roof edge to the exterior wall. It's important for:
  • Ventilation: Soffit vents provide intake ventilation, allowing fresh air to enter the attic and regulate temperature and moisture.
  • Aesthetics: It creates a finished look to the roof's underside.
  • Pest Control: A properly sealed soffit prevents pests like birds and squirrels from nesting in the attic.
Keeping your soffit in good condition is crucial for a healthy and functional roof.

What is a roof valley, and why is it important?

A roof valley is the internal angle formed where two roof slopes meet. It's a critical area for waterproofing, as it channels a high volume of rainwater runoff. Improperly flashed valleys are a common source of leaks, so it's crucial to ensure they are properly sealed and maintained.

How do I choose the right type of roof for my climate?

Consider your local climate when choosing a roof:
  • Hot Climates: Opt for light-colored or reflective roofing materials to reduce heat absorption. Consider tile roofs for their thermal mass and heat resistance.
  • Cold Climates: Ensure your roof has adequate insulation and ventilation to prevent ice dams and moisture buildup. Metal roofs can shed snow effectively.
  • High-Wind Areas: Choose roofing systems with high wind ratings and properly installed hurricane straps or clips to enhance wind resistance.
  • Areas with Heavy Rainfall: Ensure your roof has proper drainage and a waterproof membrane to prevent leaks.
